Art Deco porcelain trio produced by Schwarzenbach Bavaria at the beginning of the 20th century, during the 1920s. To many, the Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion, the items produced during that period including both individually crafted luxury items, with a sleek and elegant vibe that symbolised wealth and sophistication and mass produced items, but with a close attention to details.
With a colloidal gold rim and an anti-traditional pattern (for that age) featuring leaf, lines, dots and a stencilled cubic pattern (the inside of the cup), the set really is a clear cut display of what Art Deco is: relative simplicity, symmetry, intricate line art, aerodynamic curves and unvaried repetition of elements, resembling Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann`s Sevres flared vase N°3.
As per the Art Deco inspiration, the design of the trio shows subtle influences from Egyptian sources, nature, as well as astronomy (the stylised sun rays) and they stand as a testimony of their age, whilst remaining contemporary and matching any modern home. This could being a lovely addition to your coffee/tea and snack routine and would make for a great gift.
