Sauce bowl with attached underplate produced by Klubi (Bavaria), during the 1950s in West Germany. Reminding a lot of the classic Delftware pieces and some Kalk Eisenberg Porcelain Kobalt Blau from the 1920s, this gravy boat feature sa simple yet intricate floral pattern in cobalt blue with lovely waved rim.
Even though during the 1950s, pale blue was all the hype, the pattern`s colour draws more inspiration from the classic pieces of the beginning of the century, a kind of nice cameo of olden days.
As it was produced by a relatively small company with no sort of automation means in sight, as compared to other Bavarian porcelain producers, and since the piece was hand-made, it has some fine grains of sand visible on top of the glaze, most likely from the production stage. (Kindly check all photos.)
Regardless of that, these small imperfections give that extra character and it makes it look like it has been in your cupboard or your dinner table for a lot longer, like it has been part of the dining ritual already.
The gravy boat is a great way of sharing different sauces, small salads or appetisers, and it alternatively also be used for decoration purposes or storing different trinkets on the hallway.
