Introduced during early 1950s, form 832 has come in many colours and glazes, but nothing as minimalistic and as wonderfully crafted as this limited edition vase. Each of the fine lines are handmade, irregularly carved into the terracotta base, creating an almost Op Art effect.
We know from the handwritten mark on the bottom that this is an early piece, as only for a short period of time during 1950s Ruscha pottery was hand-marked. Also, as the form number is followed by a 3 - usually out of a maximum of 4 - this means that the higher the number in the sequence the larger the vase is, so this one is actually quite convenient sized.
Inspired by Scandinavian design but with a W.G. pottery twist, this is a super versatile piece to have in your collection, especially if you’re going for that mid-century vibe, and in all honesty, this sort of piece would look great in any contemporary set-up inasmuch as in a countryside retreat home.
