Produced in West Germany during 1950s, when polka dots absolutely boomed in popularity and you could then find a wide array of objects with that pattern, from clothes, curtains, toys, sofas, accessories, to the obvious pop art and dinnerware.

Winterling was founded back in 1907 by seven brother (the Winterlings) in the Röslau (Bavaria) and over a century designed and produced coffee and tea sets, complete dinnerware sets and porcelain giftware.

The set is composed of 6 middle sized plates (aka salad plates), 6 saucer plates, 5 cups and 1 lidded sugar bowl, enough for entertaining a couple of friends over a cup of coffee/tea and some cake - basically you can either use the plates to serve snacks or a super generous portion of cake and some after meal hot drinks.

With some embossed fine lines of the rim of the plates, also present on the body of the cups and the sugar bowl, beautifully adorned with a stylised polka dot and small triangles pattern reminding of Op Art, these pieces would make for a great addition to your kitchen cabinets, having a touch of vintage whilst also looking positively from 2020s.
