Porcelain tureen produced by Schönwald in Germany (district of Wunsiedel, Bavaria), during early 1950s. Maintaining that classic style of creamy white porcelain with colloidal gold details on the rim of the bowl, the lid and handles, this is one of the rare pieces that still survived that period, especially since the company moved from Kahla to Schönwald, went through the division of Germany and all the economic turmoil that came with that and also reduced production considerably.
The handles are Art Nouveau inspired but with a more mid-century twist to it, whilst the lid has a ladle hole for the serving spoon or other serving utensils, of course you could use the tureen for soups, mashed potatoes, pasta, maybe salads, but would also be great for some tiramisu and other creamy cakes.
This is a lovely delicate piece to have in your dinnerware collection and even though it has a time patina (kindly check all the photos), it just make it look like it has been with you for as long as you’ve known yourself.
