Set of 4 creamy white porcelain plates and 1 large platter produced by Langenthal (Suisse) in 1968, in Switzerland, in the Bernese town of Langenthal, one of the very few Swiss porcelain manufacturers at the time, that opened the business back in 1906.

Belonging to the same collection and perhaps even part of the same tableware set, both the dessert/appetiser plates and the large platter feature a colloidal gold rim in mint condition and a fine line pattern, that draws inspiration from the 1960s minimalist art, whilst maintaining a liaison with the elegance of 1940s.

If in art, trends and movements were much more delimited at the time (so you’d have Psychedelic Art, Op Art, Pop Art, Minimalism and Conceptual Art), in fashion and in the porcelain/pottery industry, it can be observed a continuity, sometimes even under the form of reproductions or simple perpetuation of “classic” design that never quite went out of fashion. Same applies to this 1968 set, that looks as as relevant now as it looked back then.

These pieces would be great for either serving cake with your dear ones or having breakfast or an appetiser, in an intimate formula of 4, whilst using the platter as a centerpiece for the table.
