Set of 4 tall glasses produced in France during 1970s, with an etched swirl pattern and an octagonally cut stem that adds structure and makes it look like crystal.

So, after the previous decade left a huge mark on the 1970s, many households and manufacturers altogether still had one foot in the 1960s, there still were not many clear-cut styles, pop culture was blossoming so as consumerism. Similar to the fashion industry that introduced then synthetic fabrics that offered fashion at a low price point making the seventies the “Polyester Decade”, the glass industry was also exposed to changes, many producers starting to use more and more glass instead of crystal, making their items available to a larger public.

Just as synthetic fabrics used to mimic silk patterns, glass patterns mimicked crystal dinnerware patterns, and this set is testimony of that by looking like crystal.

They are in mint condition, really drawing on the essence of the 1970s, with a simple design yet still reminding of the classic flute style. Would look great on the dinner table for a small gathering and they could make for a great gift.
