Set of 6 porcelain Mitterteich Bavaria plates, manufactured in Germany between 1921-1931. The plates feature a lovely Art Deco circle pattern on the rim with colloidal gold details, resembling a lot the future Op Art style.
Despite the usual influences in art at the time, these have a very simple and elegant design, remaining as contemporary now as they were back then. As shown in the individual pictures, they have some a time patina and some of the colloidal gold is slightly discontinued, but they are otherwise in great condition and they would be a great addition to the dinner table, perfect for serving dessert or appetisers.
Think of these pieces as a memorabilia and a historical artifact that survived the Great Recession, a regime change in 1933 and a gruesome World War. It would have been amazing to know who owned them initially, what was their journey till finding us and reaching you or how much they were worth back then, especially since being produced in Germany, the country was facing soaring inflation rates.
