White bone china gravy boat produced by Villeroy & Boch, as part of the Grey Pearl Collection in the Cameo White (Weiss) pattern, in the 1990s (starting with 1993). V&B, besides making porcelain and ceramic dinnerware, they also work with bone china (composed of kaolin, feldspar and quartz), that has a more elegant feel due to its milky texture and it has more strength and resilience as compared to fine bone china or porcelain.

With a boat shape figure and an embossed leaf and flowers pattern almost looking like a lace strip  the Cameo Weiss reminds of the cameo necklaces used in XVI century England, starting to be very much the trend, usually featuring the head of Queen Elizabeth to celebrate the victory over the Spanish Armada. Later, during the XIX century Queen Victoria has been credited to keeping the trend alive as it was one of the key jewellery pieces that she wore.

The gravy boat has a capacity of 0.4l, so generous enough for a dinner, looking as contemporary as it gets whilst maintaining that nostalgic vibe. Plus, traditionally bone china pieces, besides being usually reserved for special occasions, where also also the sort of pieces passed on as family heirlooms.

So, if you want a relatively new piece to pass on as to your dear ones, not too old and not too young, but strong enough to stand for generations, the Cameo Weiss gravy boat would be a great start.
